KABUL, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Thunder and lightning claimed the lives of two children in eastern Afghanistan's Paktia province on Friday, provincial director for the Natural Disaster Management Authority, Mawlawi Nisar Ahmad Nejat, said Saturday.
The natural disaster took place in Niazi village outside the provincial capital Gardez city on Friday evening, killing two children on the spot, the official said, saying Gardez and adjoining areas have experienced heavy rains and flooding over the past couple of days.
This is the second incident of its nature over the past three days. In a similar incident, a child was killed in the Wardak province on Thursday. ■
